What is the difference between a Bookkeeper and an Accountant?
A Bookkeeper sorts out all your expenses, receipts for each month eg: expenses for fuel, marketing, parking, stationary and sundries. Indeed, any Business expense that you have paid out for or invoiced someone for, be it a product or a service. A Bookkeeper will tally up all these expenses, giving a total expenditure, thus saving you time and allowing you to concentrate on your Business.
Once this has been done, these expenses are then given to an Accountant, who will then "calculate" the amount of Tax / Vat that you are due to pay. The Accountant will then go through these costings with you before submitting the papers to HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs). They will then notify the Accountant how much Tax / Vat you owe. You will have to pay the Bookkeeper, Accountant and the HMRC.
